Quilting News at Gone To Pieces Quilt Shop
Time is flying! The other day my husband told me 4 months until Christmas which lead to some panic on my part. I don’t even have a list started, but it brings me to a reminder for all of you. Our machine quilting list is already out there 8 to 10 weeks. If you are thinking that you are going to be needing something quilted by Gone To Pieces for the Holidays, please get busy and give us a call (320-398-5300) to reserve a spot for you.
National Sew A Jelly Roll Day celebrates quilters of every generation and skill level. If you’re a quilter, you collect fabric. You may also collect “pre-cuts”, those tempting packages of many pieces of fabric already cut for you into charming sizes. They’re so popular, there is even a special lingo associated with them – layer cakes and dessert rolls, honey buns and jelly rolls.
Recent studies have shown that many quilters collect these pre-cuts without knowing what to do with them, without having a purpose. That’s where Project Jelly Roll and the National Sew A Jelly Roll Day come in. The third Saturday in September of every year is designated as National Sew a Jelly Roll Day to encourage collectors to tear open a Jelly Roll and make something for themselves, as a gift or for charity! It can be a quilt or a tote bag, a pillowcase or something to wear, it doesn’t matter so long as you seize the day and celebrate the joy of being a maker. For the month of September, we have chosen four jelly roll patterns that we will give you your choice of pattern with a purchase of a jelly roll.
We are working feverishly on new samples for the shop and a new event.
